Writing Sessions are back for 2016!

Hello Creative Writers and Happy 2016!

It's a new year and we have a new series of writing sessions planned for this term. Students will be working with actors on script ideas, understanding how archives can inspire our writing, looking at how textiles relate to the fabric of writing and much more besides! Please see below.

(W)riting (S)essions (P)rogramme

The WSP is designed to provide a space where students can experiment and stimulate creativity. It offers chances to write in many inspiring places, where you will be exposed to materials, sounds, slideshows and artworks.

YEAR 1 TERM 2

12th January: Animation Archive
Be inspired by the resources of the animation archive.

19th January: Digitisation Suite
Learn about glass as material and metaphor in the glassworks. Includes introductory tour.

26th January: Writing Materials (Seminar room)
Supported by librarian Chris Jones, engage in the library’s new creative resources.

2nd February: Crafts Study Centre
Come to understand ceramic as a material and a process. Includes introductory tour.

9th February:  Object writing (JL07)
Develop writing from unusual objects, from fossils to foil.

23rd February: Radio studio 2
Understand the basics of recording and thinking about radio drama.

1st March: Material Session (Textiles) 
Generate work from understanding the processes and possibilities of textile art.

8th March: Sculpture Garden
Tour the grounds to find inspiration from sculpture.

11th January: Writing your play (Seminar Room)
A practical session on the basics of playwriting. In preparation for working with Acting and Performance students.

18th January: Archive Research Session (2.00-5.00)
Begin to develop your creative research projects with the help of the Archive team.

25th January: Writing Materials (with Chris)
Supported by librarian Chris Jones, engage in the library’s new creative resources.

1st February: Writers and Actors Workshop 2.00-5.00pm
Learn about metal as material and metaphor in the forge. Includes introductory tour.

8th February: Object Writing (Seminar Room)
Develop writing from unusual objects, from fossils to foil.

15th February: Material Session (Textiles)
Generate work from understanding the processes and possibilities of textile art.

29th February: Archive Research session (2.00-5.00)
Continue to develop your creative research projects with the help of the Archive team.

  7th March: Writers and Actors Workshop 2.00-5.00pm
See your work performed as a rehearsed reading!
